A whole year has passed since the latest The Elder Scrolls title's release, developed by Bethesda Game Studios since 2006 and released November 2011 the game within a year has captivated old fans and new fans into the franchise.
Earlier this year, Bethesda Game Studios with the cooperation of Valve released the Creation Kit; a powerful tool that allows the players to mod the game with a complete toolset and an online wiki for support which is maintened by the fans and Bethesda. With the Creation Kit's release Valve also added a whole spot for Skyrim in the workshop were players can share their own creations for others to download and enjoy and this has been praised by many.
Usually PC ports of console games aren't praised, meanwhile Bethesda Game Studios did a very good job of bringing the game to the PC platform, without just porting the game for many fans and players enjoyment some players felt that the UI was strictly designed for a console. (Later on fans developed a mod which adds a more keyboard-mouse friendly UI)
Nowadays, Skyrim is the 16th most played game on Xbox Live, competing directly with games that feature online modes or even co-op Skyrim has proven that even a single player game with much effort and dedication can compete over time against other AAA multiplayer titles.
See you next week, Lucky Red
Wii U’s pre-orders keep increasing even now
If you are a Nintendo fan there’s no doubt that you have caught up; the amount of Wii U pre-orders has been increasing even a week before the hardware’s release, despite the Q4 schedule that is filled with many AAA titles for the other hardware on the market.
However, even by release Nintendo’s newest console will feature Assassin’s Creed III and a Call of Duty title and ZombiU, talk about increasing software sales for the console has been found over the net and many gaming websites.
There will be the basic version of the console for sale, which is colored white and comes with the new controller the Wii U GamePad and the premium version bundled with Nintendo Land, colored black and filled with many accessories and of course the new controller.
Meanwhile the background of the previous Nintendo release, the Wii was rough but was welcomed with open arms over the years, it seems that more people are excited about the new console.
I would like to say that the RSJ won’t do a review of the console since the only journalist is broke, but we will keep you updated with any news about the Nintendo Wii U and its titles.
Halo 4’s Spartan Ops Episode 2
Earlier this week 343 Industries released the second episode of Spartan Ops that has already met some critical questioning from both fans and journalists.
Meanwhile the plot goes on and the cinematics are actually appealling the story-driven multiplayer has rehashed maps from its campaign mode and doesn’t give the player any further motivation of playing throughout the maps.
Playing the same map three or four times can get boring, regardless of the greatness of 343 Industries’ level design a lack of motivation could be the ultimate downfall of an otherwise potential mode.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II released!
After a whole year of waiting the publisher Activision finally put Black Ops II on the shelves roughly a week since Microsoft’s release of Halo 4. The major game review websites are already shooting scores at the newest piece of the Call of Duty franchise.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II takes place in the year 2025 when the U.S. receives an EMP strike that puts out all electronic equipment from the Chinese army, thus starting a war between China and the U.S.
The game was developed by Treyarch, founded in 1996 by Peter Akemann and Dogan Koslu the studio was acquired by Activision back in 2001 and it is now located in Santa Monica, California. They developed many popular games such as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater or Spider-Man.
Later in the year 2005 they developed their first Call of Duty game; Call of Duty 2: Big Red One that was released on the GameCube, PlayStation 2 and the Xbox and since then Activision put them in charge of making a Call of Duty game every two years.
However, Treyarch’s history is not all sweet and happiness back in 2008 they released the game Quantum of Solace based on the newest James Bond movies played by the actor Daniel Craig. The game had some letdowns and received mixed critics, however the combat was praised in the game.
